#1FUNTHING 2014: Water Fight!

SONY DSC

We're baaaack with our #1FunThing summer challenge! Remember the challenge last year? From touring your town to chalking it up, we had a ball challenging ourselves and YOU!  Once again, we are encouraging kids to do one fun, outdoor activity each weekend  and then share an image of what you did with us using the hashtag #1FUNTHING so we can see it. We may feature your little on our website and in social media!

First challenge of 2014, WATER FIGHT! So glad our friends at Hasbro sent us these awesome Nerf super soaker blasters, say bye, bye to those little plastic guns of the past - these things literally SOAKED the boys! Normally we are big on conserving water and trying our best not to be wasteful. But we thought we'd take this one time to cool off and go a little nutty. Anyway, the boys didn't waste too much water -- they were so exhausted after 20 minutes they gave up!

I LOVE how these images catch the water drops. These images will be a great summer memory for them, don't you think? Are you going to JOIN THE CHALLENGE THIS WEEKEND?? We hope so! We want to see your pictures next week. Don't forget to use #1FUNTHING when you post!

What's Up, July?

SONY DSC

Yea, I'm shocked too. It's officially JULY. JULY? Really? I feel like we just got into the summer and it's ending already. I am glad school is over for the boys though. 4th grade was pretty tough. I slowed down a lot on producing videos, photo shoots, etc. because the year was really taxing on them. I'm glad they get a break now - I get a break too - homework was hard on me as well!  Anyway, I look forward to a ton of fun in the sun. Here's what's up for July with Tristin + Tyler:

New Videos - We're taking a look at the coolest things to do in NYC with a Tristin + Tyler twist. You'll love these short videos with a big punch!

Cooking + Tutorials - As you know, the LOVE to cook, so we are sharing tips on recipes kids can make on their own! The boys also want to show you a few of their favorite hobbies.

Events + Giveaways - Yep, we've got a few cool events up our sleeve! Some are all about style, others, just about having fun. Either way, you'll want to join   in for a chance to have a good time, and win really fun prizes!!

Tell us below, what do YOU have going on this summer??

LET THE FUN BEGIN!

Eco Brand of the Month: Sprout Watches

SONY DSC

Accessories are key to any good outfit don't you think? Our Eco Brand of the Month is a company all about making fashion-foward watches and accessories, AND doing it with sustainable materials! Let me introduce you to Sprout Watches. They are an awesome company that makes their products of out materials like cork, bamboo, and organic cotton. The boys LOVE them. As you can see Tyler pretty much wanted to wear ALL of the watches at the same time. The boys especially love the cork watches and they are fascinated by the fact that parts of their watches might have been something else in another "lifetime." Sprout Watches are not only for kiddos, they have really stylish designs for men and women too. What's better than being stylish and conscious of the Earth's resources --ESPECIALLY during Earth Month? Nada, in my book. Check out Sprout here and let us know what 'cha think!  xx

All opinions expressed are my own, as always. We were not compensated for this post but were provided with watches to review.

#EcoFriendly Easter Egg Decorating with Tristin + Tyler

SONY DSC

Easter is almost here and since it's Earth Month and almost Earth Day (April 22), I wanted to reuse some items for our eggs instead of purchasing new stuff! It's all about reducing, reusing and recycling you know? Anyway, we thought reusing foil would be different. The boys also thought of cutting up some old comic books. I must admit, it's not easy working with foil, or the comic book cut outs, but I think we did okay!

The boys made the polka dots using a hole puncher and used some glue to make the dots and glitter stick. Then they cut out comic book bubbles and glued them on. Simple and fun. What do you think? What are some of your Easter egg decorating traditions? What would you reuse on your eggs for Earth Month? Tiffany xx

Cooking w/ Tristin + Tyler: Freshmade NYC

Screen Shot 2013-10-30 at 9.50.47 PM

It can be a bit difficult to get kids to eat their veggies. Actually, it's not too hard for Tristin, but Tyler tries to avoid veggies whenever he can, so I loved shooting a fun cooking video with Cara and Thomas of Freshmade NYC. Cara and Thomas have tons of ideas on how to make eating healthy fun! We headed to their gorgeous kitchen and learned how to make Korean pancakes called Pajeons. The boys LOVE pancakes, so adding the veggie twist was a great way to make pancakes healthy. Want to learn more? Watch our video, and make sure your kiddies take our fun quiz at the end to see if they were paying attention! Make sure to visit Freshmade NYC here, they cater events, have workshops AND do birthday parties. Awesome, huh?

How do you get your kiddos to eat healthy? Do you have a way of sneaking it in, or do they eat it voluntarily? Enjoy (and please share) the video!!! xx

How To Rock Halloween w/ Chasing Fireflies

SONY DSC

Don't be scared boys and galz, it's just your friendly gargoyle and skeleton knight all set for Halloween thanks to Chasing Fireflies!

Much to my chagrin, my little dudes have been selecting Halloween costumes that have become increasingly scary over the years. Is that what pre-tweens like? Ugh! But, creepiness and all, I am so impressed by the level of detail and quality in these costumes by Chasing Fireflies.  Have you checked out their site? From hot dogs, pirates to fairies and more, they boast a serious selection of costumes.

The boys are truly into scaring people these days, so I like that these costumes work well for them to play in too -- not just a one-time use for Halloween.  The other day Tristin wore this glow-in-the-dark skeleton hoodie and the gargoyle wings out and about in our neighborhood.  I was so worried he was going to mess up the wings and wouldn't have them for Halloween, but again, the quality held it all together -- and Tristin does love to play rough!

Make sure to check out Chasing Fireflies here! You have plenty of time to get costumes shipped right to your door (I loved that too, no pushing and shoving at the pop-up costume stores).  Happy shopping!
