Spring Neutrals

SPRINGNEUTRAL3.18.jpg

It's technically Spring, but it totally doesn't feel like it. We are a few days away from Easter Sunday and I am still wearing my heaviest coat! I guess that's why when I styled this shoot for the boys I couldn't quite put them in "Spring" colors - I had to ease my way into brights since the weather is not cooperating.  I love these neutrals though!

THE SHOOT - We were visiting family in Long Island so I put all of the clothes, accessories and boots in the trunk of the car and I knew I had to find a spot to get some clean lines outdoors. I found a parking lot on the side of a mall that had this really cool shadow from the sun setting -see above their heads in this first pic, and in Tristin's walking solo pic below?

THE STYLING - It was all about a hint of Spring with the florals, but stepping back from doing any real Spring/Easter colors. Neutrals are always a great way to transition to new seasons. Tristin has a suede jacket and Tyler's is quilted and an olive green. Love all of the small details you can only see from up close.

In the City with Yamilah

YAMIL7.jpg

THE KIDS: I love getting the opportunity to shoot with other kids, especially girls since I never really have a chance to style them. You may remember gorgeous Yamilah from this shoot. We had so much fun last time that we wanted to definitely work together when she was back in NYC.

BEHIND THE SHOOT:  I love shooting outdoors. I'm not much of a studio person, although I love that I finally have one my own since I bought a house! YAY! We did this shoot in and outdoors since I didn't want the kids to freeze, but I definitely wanted some bright and airy photos.

THE STYLE: Loved styling Yamilah in a slight preppy but sporty look. Her shirt with the bow and the hat dressed her up a bit, but I made it more tween appropriate with the jeans, varsity jacket and converse!

Tristin is a little sophisticated in this one with a long dress coat, but again, I took it down to kid level with a snap back cap and a sweatshirt. Tyler is a little rocker but cool with the jacket and hat. Both boys are rocking the latest Dr. Martens boots - stay tuned for a whole bunch of content on those!

Tristin + Tyler's Threads: Fall with Zara Kids

fallzara3.jpg

Fall is my favorite time of year. The weather is perfect, and you can get away with a light leather jacket and some good denim - my two favorite things to wear.  As the boys get older, they definitely pay attention to everything I style them in and they love the written messages on the clothing in Zara's fall line. From "Be Yourself" to "Rock and Roll Life," the kids appreciate clothing that says something about who they are as people and I do too as these messages are super positive. Check it out below and definitely head to Zara for your little dudes, so many options for boys now

Tristin and Tyler's Threads: Sprayground

SPRAYF172.jpg

It's all about backpacks for teens and tweens - actually, its pretty much all about the backpack for all kids. I totally remember freaking out if I couldn't get the perfect one for the start of the new school year. Now? It's cool backpack time ALL. YEAR. LONG. and the boys are huge fans of Sprayground. We love the bags for adults, but you've gotta check out the mini bags for smaller kids - the coolest!

This season we had to get the new DIY pack that you can color in yourself seeing as we love getting creative - Tristin loves it and only decided to color the handles cause the white/black design was so cool. And, if you know Tyler, you know his obsession with the Golden State Warriors so he had to have the bag that repped Steph Curry and his favorite team.

Are you familiar with Sprayground? If not, get to know them. They've got great bags for kids, adults and some really cute ones for us moms! Let me know if you get one and follow Sprayground Kids on Instagram here!

Tristin + Tyler's Threads: H&M Halloween

hmhalloween2.jpg

As the kids get older, I definitely can't get away with completely dressing them like I want. They'll do it, but they will whine the whole time.  So I'm happy that when the boys are not in the mood to dress up for Halloween (one of their favorite days of the year by the way) they can get cool-kid Halloween items from H&M.  Not only did Tristin and Tyler pick these pieces out, they styled themselves!

Tyler turned that full skeleton jumper into skeleton pants by wrapping the arms around his waist and adding an H&M blazer, and Tristin chose to layer his skull tee with an H&M blazer and denim shirt - AND he suggested the pop of color too!  I've taught them well, huh?

Check out H&M's Halloween costumes and Halloween-inspired clothing for that cool kid of yours here! Let me know what you find! :)

Tristin + Tyler's Threads: Back to School in Jordan

I can't believe it's time to talk about back to school style and supplies, can you? I honestly love the Fall, my favorite time of year, but I'm not ready for the homework, the morning rush and the after school activities. What makes it easier? The boys being able to get dressed in comfortable clothing and getting out the door looking put together. That's why I love Jordan clothing. It's sporty but the textures, materials and cool details make it look much more upscale than average sportswear. Put the outfits together with fresh Jordan 5s -- good to go!

What are your go to sportswear brands?

Happy back to school shopping!

Tristin + Tyler's Threads: Appaman Summer

The boys do a ton of running around so I'm always trying to find the best things for them to wear that allows them to go from summer camp, to auditions to maybe dinner or fun with friends. Loving the summer items for boys by Appaman has, and a lot of it is on sale now so definitely check them out!  Not only do they make the best suiting for kids, but their standalone pieces are so versatile and comfortable. Tyler's wearing these sandy shorts with a crisp button down to dress up a bit, but he's also rocked them  with a plain tee to go and hang with friends. Tristin has worn that shirt with white denim, or sweat shorts and it still looks great. Appaman never disappoints. How do you make sure your kids can transition easily from different activities in the summer?
