Writing Radar Review with Battery POP!

Hey Guys!

We've got something fun to share from one of our favorite partners, batteryPOP! If you haven't checked them out yet, they are great platform for fun, informative and creative kids videos. Definitely a safe place for the kiddos to watch videos online.

This time around Tyler and Tristin read Writing Radar by Jack Gantos, I won't give you too many details about the book, but the boys had such a good time reading it and creating their very own journals. Learn more about the book and get some writing tips that the kids will love by watching the video below! And don't forget to subscribe to our YouTube channel!

Sneaker Lover: Jordan 6 Retro All Star

JACKET + DENIM: Zara   SHIRT: Gap Kids   SNEAKERS: Kids Foot Locker

JACKET + DENIM: Zara   SHIRT: Gap Kids   SNEAKERS: Kids Foot Locker

You may have noticed that in addition to styling the boys' clothing, I'm starting to really get into sneakers. Yep, you'll see a lot more features on the latest and greatest "kicks" that everyone is going crazy about in the sneaker world.  For this shoot it was nice that Tristin didn't have to wear a big coat -- the weather was amazing this weekend -- and I loved to mix and match textures with the jacket, denim and plaid shirt.

When I was in high school I remember how important the right sneaker was, and now that craze it TOTALLY back.  This week it's all about the hottest kicks for us! First up, check out these Jorden 6 Retro All Stars! They just came out last Friday. When they hit the light it's kind of two-toned which I love.  Yes, a little expensive ($180) for younger kids, but for an older kid who is going to work hard not to mess them up (like my boyz), it's a good investment as Jordans generally last a long time (just go a half size bigger so they grow into it!).

Are you into sneakers? What about your kids? Check out more images below and let us know what you think of these and the outfit!

We Tried Pokemon GO! Here's What Happened!

With all the hype around the new app Pokemon GO! Tristin + Tyler had to check it out! I was a little skeptical because I had already heard stories of people running into the strangest things because they weren't paying attention to their surroundings, and of course, the boys had the same sort of issues.

Check out this funny video about their experience, and if you haven't already, don't forget to subscribe to their YouTube channel! :)

What's Cool? Arthur Ashe Kids Day 2015!

This summer is going out with a BIG BANG! We got a chance to go behind the scenes ofArthur Ashe Kids Day 2015, an annual event which teaches kids to get active with tennis which honors the memory of Arthur Ashe. Kids get to check out the skills of tennis greats like Serena Williams and Rafael Nadal and enjoy musical performances galore! Tristin + Tyler even got a chance to interview some really cool musical artists like American Authors, Natalie La Rose, Kalin and Myles and Radio Disney's Brooke Taylor!  The boys rocked out to the latest music, but more importantly, they learned about the legacy of Arthur Ashe, the first African American player selected to the United States Davis Cup team and the only African American ever to win the singles title at Wimbledon, the US Open, or the Australian Open. Arthur Ashe's legacy was important in so many ways, whether it was encouraging kids to do what they love, perform against all odds or always think about giving back - that man was inspirational.

Check out our video interviews and photos below and please comment and share! xo

On the Next Episode of What's Up, City Kid?! > Construction Kids!

Screen Shot 2015-05-27 at 9.49.13 PM Think you would ever let your kiddo make something with a power tool or a hammer? You're probably saying NO WAY, but we may just change your mind after you see the next episode of What's Up, City Kid?! Join Tristin and Tyler at the Brooklyn Navy Yard to check out a unique kids program that gets kids excited about construction and yep, you guessed it - power tools. Construction Kids helps kids create and repair projects ranging from skateboards, to toys to decorative wood flowers, using all natural materials. Using teamwork and tools scaled for kid's hands, children really get a chance to dive right in and implement basic construction skills while learning the importance of safety. It was great to see Tristin and Tyler learn how to properly hold a hammer and where they should put their hands for support when they are drilling something.  What do you think about kids learning new skills and using their hands in new ways to create and strengthen their fine motor skills? Let me know in the comments below.

Stay tuned for the episode next week and make sure to SUBSCRIBE to our YouTube Channel so you don't miss a thing!
