Let's face it, kids just aren't nice to other kids sometimes. Kids say what's on their mind and don't think about who their hurting too much! Tristin and Tyler have come home with some sad stories about bullying, so I'm so glad Denise and Melissa of THE MOMS invited us to see actress Julianne Moore's Freckleface Strawberry the Musical, which taught the boys it's okay to be you and love yourself NO MATTER WHAT!
Freckleface Strawberry the Musical is based on the book series written by actress Julianne Moore. The books are based on Julianne's story as a child -- a girl who hated her freckles because kids made fun of her.
The musical follows Strawberry through all types of feats in trying to cover up her freckles and even rub them off because people made fun of them. She just wanted to be like everyone else! In the end she realizes, this is me, and ME IS GREAT!
One of the many highlights of the day was getting to meet Julianne Moore at the end and getting her tips on how she balances being a mom with a career. Her answer: just listen to your kids and be aware. As the kids get older, they don't talk as much so you just have to keep that dialogue going as much as possible! She was so nice to Tristin and Tyler! They loved that a HUGE movie star was talking to little guys like them!
Freckleface Strawberry is a truly positive, inspiring show. From the music, to the dancing and the cast members who interacted with the audience, it's definitely a show you don't want to miss!
The real message of the musical, and what we took home was, love yourself now matter what and you can be ANYTHING you want to be!
You've GOTTA check it out, epecially if your child has ever dealt with bullying or self-esteem issues, Freckleface the Musical is a true pick-me-up!
Thanks, as always, to THE MOMS for the invite!!
