I will admit, I am not big of buying toys. I go crazy and buy a ton of toys for Christmas, then I pretty much only by educational items like books and puzzles for the rest of the year. But after checking out Melissa & Doug products thanks to my fab friends over at Mom Trends, I might just change my mind about when I purchase toys!
Melissa & Doug have a great toy showroom in Manhattan, I was invited to attend a Mom Trends event which showcased all of Melissa and Doug's cool toys. If you haven't heard of Melissa & Doug, check them out! Especially for any last minute Christmas gifts this year.
Did you know that Melissa and Doug are a real-life husband and wife team that started the company in their garage? How cool is that?
A fun aspect of the event (besides playing with all the toys) was that one of my good friends, Faye Rogaski of socialsklz, came by to give us parents some tips on making sure the kids are gracious when receiving gifts this holiday season!
What I love most about Melissa and Doug toys is that they remind me of the way I used to play as a child. No plugging things in, clicking pictures or using an iPad. Just good ole' "use your imagination" kind of play.
I was happy to see a play kitchen, doll houses and super-huge stuffed animals. I think this is exactly what kids need these days to really relax and wind down.
Have you checked out Melissa and Doug toys? Do you agree with the philosophy that play should be "unplugged?"
Thanks so much to Mom Trends, socialsklz and the fabulous Melissa & Doug PR team for such a fun event!
[Disclaimer: I was not compensated for this post or for attending the event. I was given a complimentary Trunki (the boys love it!).]
